Senior Lawyer - Transport and Rail

We are seeking a Senior Lawyer with 3 to 5 years PQE and criminal litigation experience to join our client’s Legal department. This role will primarily support the Compliance Policing Operations and Security Directorate, focusing on conducting litigation in criminal proceedings, particularly fare evasion prosecutions and prosecutions under taxi and private hire vehicle legislation. Regulatory and general public law experience would also be advantageous.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Conduct litigation in criminal proceedings, focusing on fare evasion and taxi/private hire vehicle legislation.
*Support Compliance Policing Operations and Security Directorate.
*Collaborate with various internal teams to ensure legal compliance and effective legal support.
*Manage case files, prepare legal documents, and liaise with external legal counsel as necessary.
*Although not a primary requirement, there may be occasional demands to conduct advocacy in magistrates’ courts.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*3 to 5 years PQE in criminal litigation.
*Experience in regulatory and general public law is advantageous.
*Ability to handle complex cases with a high degree of professionalism and discretion.
*Strong organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure.
*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively interacting with a variety of stakeholders.
