The Role Reporting into a Management Accountant / Finance Manager, the Assistant Accountant will play a key role in supporting monthly reporting, reconciliations, and day-to-day finance operations. The role offers genuine responsibility and development for someone keen to progress their accounting career.
Key Responsibilities * Processing and reviewing payment runs across multiple legal entities

* Daily posting of payments received via BACS, credit card, and third-party platforms

* Supporting month-end close, including:
* Prepayments and accruals

* Bank and balance sheet reconciliations

* Assistance with management accounts


* Full ownership of one legal entity, including:
* Accounts Payable

* Reviewing Accounts Receivable

* VAT returns

* Payment runs and reconciliations

* Month-end review and ad-hoc queries


* Supporting external audits and responding to data requests

* Stock management oversight and process improvement initiatives

* Assisting with regulatory reporting (e.g. FCA, ONS)

* Providing cover for Accounts Payable when required

* Supporting finance automation and continuous improvement projects

About You * Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant or similar finance role

* Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

* Part-qualified or keen to begin a recognised accounting qualification

* Strong Excel skills and confidence working with data

* Experience using accounting systems (Microsoft Navision experience is advantageous)

* Highly organised, detail-oriented, and ownership-driven

* Strong communication skills and a proactive mindset
