Job Description:
Conveyancing Paralegal / Conveyancing Assistant
Location: Matlock, Derbyshire
Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 DOE
Contract: Full-time | Permanent
CRA Consulting is delighted to be partnering with a long-established and respected firm of solicitors in Matlock who are seeking to appoint an experienced Conveyancing Paralegal / Conveyancing Assistant to join their busy Residential Property department.
This is an excellent opportunity for an organised, proactive individual who thrives in a client-focused environment and enjoys being involved in every stage of the conveyancing process. You’ll play a key role in supporting the team, ensuring transactions progress smoothly from initial instruction through to exchange, completion, and post-completion.
The Role
You will provide comprehensive administrative and paralegal support on a wide range of residential conveyancing matters. Duties will include:
*
Opening new files, carrying out onboarding procedures and undertaking ID/AML checks
*
Managing incoming and outgoing post, emails and telephone queries
*
Preparing draft documentation, issuing contract packs and handling initial paperwork
*
Ordering searches and reviewing results
*
Raising, reviewing and responding to enquiries (under supervision where required)
*
Liaising professionally with clients, estate agents, mortgage lenders, other solicitors and third parties
*
Assisting with exchange and completion processes, including preparation of completion statements
*
Handling post-completion tasks such as SDLT submissions and Land Registry applications
*
Maintaining accurate file records, ensuring compliance with regulatory and firm-wide procedures
*
General administrative support to keep matters progressing efficiently
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
*
Previous experience within a Residential Conveyancing department (assistant, legal secretary, administrator or paralegal level)
*
Strong attention to detail, accuracy and file management skills
*
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a professional and friendly approach
*
Strong client care skills and the ability to build positive working relationships
*
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities
*
Confidence using case management systems and general IT proficiency
*
A proactive, can-do attitude and willingness to support the wider team
(Experience handling a small caseload under supervision would be beneficial but is not essential.)
