Bury Council are seeking a Policy Officer to lead the development and delivery of community safety initiatives delivery in Radcliffe. This role focuses on place-based engagement with priorities such as women & girls’ safety, gender-based violence, waterway, and transport safety. In this role you’ll focus on engagement and practical delivery of Council policy within these areas.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Work closely with the community, voluntary sector, Greater Manchester Police (GMP), and Council teams to align local activities with broader Greater Manchester initiatives like Live Well.
*Translate broad safety themes into actionable plans and coordinate services and partners for effective delivery.
*Target priority streets and areas for multi-agency interventions that deliver wider community benefits.
*Monitor emerging policies and ensure the Council champions best practices in community safety.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Proven experience in community safety or engagement, preferably within the public sector or voluntary sector.
*Demonstrated ability in partnership working and translating strategic objectives into practical delivery.
*Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
*Ability to work effectively with various stakeholders to improve community safety and perceptions.
