Operations Manager (Financial Planning)
Location: Birmingham
Salary: £50,000 – £65,000


NJR Recruitment are supporting a highly reputable professional Wealth Management organisation who have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Operations Manager to join their growing and vibrant business.


Our Client are a boutique Firm of Financial Planners and this will be a key role to ensure the smooth, efficient and compliant running of day-to-day business functions, while driving continuous improvement and supporting long-term strategic goals.


This is an excellent opportunity for an operational leader with strong people management skills, commercial awareness and a passion for process excellence, given the level of this role you will need to have previous experience within a Managerial capacity Within the Wealth Management industry.


Role Purpose
The Operations Manager will oversee daily business activities to ensure efficiency, productivity and cost-effectiveness. The role includes managing budgets, coordinating staff, optimising workflows, ensuring compliance, analysing performance (including business MI and adviser KPIs) and supporting the firm’s strategic objectives.
You will combine hands-on operational leadership with strategic oversight and project involvement where required.


Key Responsibilities
Operational & Financial Oversight
*Manage daily business operations, ensuring high-quality service delivery
*Oversee operational budgets, monitor expenditure and ensure cost-effective running of the business
*Work with Directors on financial reporting and audit preparation
Compliance & Risk Management
*Ensure operational activities comply with regulatory requirements, industry standards and internal policies
Process & Workflow Improvement
*Analyse current processes and implement improvements to increase efficiency
*Develop new operational procedures and review existing structures for optimisation
Team Leadership & HR Support
*Lead, motivate and support the operations team, setting clear goals and performance standards
*Assist with staff training, development and HR-related matters
*Initially manage a team of approximately 7 employees
Technology & Innovation
*Identify and integrate new software, systems and tools to automate manual tasks and enhance productivity
*Oversee improvements to CRM systems and broader operational infrastructure


Knowledge, Skills & Competencies Required
*Strong understanding of operational management principles
*Effective leadership and communication skills
*Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and manage multiple priorities
*Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability
*High attention to detail, particularly in compliance and financial oversight
*Ability to coordinate effectively across departments to support business strategy
*Experience improving processes, workflows and quality standards
*Confident in staff management, coaching and performance monitoring


Relevant Experience
*Several years’ experience in an operations management role
*Background in people management, business management and process efficiency
*Experience within financial planning is beneficial but not essential
*Experience working within a professional services environment is required
