Job Description:
Finance Officer
*Annual Salary: £31,537 - £36,363
*Location: Ipswich, Suffolk
*Job Type: Full-time, 37 hours per week
*Contract: Fixed Term or Secondment for 18 Months
Join our Finance Team in a dynamic local government setting. We are seeking a Finance Officer who is motivated to make a difference for our residents, clients, and communities. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of financial control processes and procedures, supporting both our Reconciliations and Accounts Receivable Teams.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Ensure timely and accurate monthly reconciliation of income and expenditure within our finance systems, including sign-off and variance explanations.
*Handle postings into the housing system for Universal Credit and allocation of housing benefits.
*Process cheques received and manage emergency accommodation invoice processing, refunds, and debt recovery.
*Perform ad hoc invoicing and set up Direct Debit mandates.
*Monitor the Death Register and review exceptions within our transaction matching system Pay360.
*Engage in process improvement to enhance efficiency by reviewing procedures and policies to ensure they are fit for purpose.
*Manage transaction allocations into our finance system Unit 4 to clear Balance Sheet codes and reduce the number of outstanding items.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*AAT or equivalent qualification is advantageous but not essential.
*Proven experience in Accounts Receivables and Reconciliations.
*Capable of handling high-volume transactions and working to tight deadlines.
*Proficiency in Finance Software and Microsoft Office.
*Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
*Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and a strong work ethic.
