Assistant Accountant
Location: Leeds LS16 (Hybrid)
Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 (DOE)
As part of our continued growth, our client is expanding the back-office operations and are now looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Accountant to join our finance team.
The Role
This is a brand-new, full-time role working closely with the Finance Manager and the wider finance team. You’ll play a key part in supporting the delivery of team objectives and helping improve processes as the organisation scales.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare draft monthly management accounts for review.
* Lead and support the transactional finance team during month end (reconciliations, accruals, prepayments).
* Assist with process improvements and ensure compliance with internal policies.
* Support intercompany invoicing and reconciliations.
* Complete month-end FX ledger reconciliations.
* Assist with VAT processes and submissions (UK & Ireland).
* Prepare weekly payment runs across multiple purchase ledgers.
* Manage debtors alongside the finance team.
* Support cashflow forecasting and margin analysis.
* Prepare sales commission statements.
* Carry out general finance duties, analysis, and audit support.
* Supervise and assist the transactional team.
* Provide ad hoc support to senior finance management.
About You
* AAT Qualified (preferred, not essential)
* Experience supervising a finance team (preferred)
*Strong analytical, numerical and organisational skills.
* Excellent communication skills for liaising with colleagues, customers and suppliers.
* Confidence engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
* A proactive, self-motivated approach with the ability to multitask effectively.
* High attention to detail.
* Experience using Sage 50, Xero or similar systems.
* Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially intermediate/advanced Excel.
* A positive attitude and willingness to learn and adapt.
