SEN Teaching Assistant – Specialist School
Location: North Hertfordshire
Salary: £12.37 – £13.49 per hour (£22,102.72 – £24,103.93 actual annual salary)
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (Term Time Only)
About the Role
We are working with a well-resourced, specialist school that provides exceptional education for students aged 6–19 with a range of needs, including moderate and severe learning difficulties (MLD/SLD), autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, and associated challenges. Many students also have complex medical needs and sensory or physical impairments.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive team and make a real difference in the lives of young people. You’ll help students manage sensory overload, anxiety, and transitions, while fostering confidence and independence.
Key Responsibilities
*Support students’ learning and development across classroom, outdoor, and community settings
*Assist young people with complex needs, including PMLD and autism, to achieve educational and personal goals
*Promote equality, diversity, and respect for all learners
*Empower students to reach their full potential
*Participate in physical intervention and personal care routines when required

*Excellent communication skills, including adapting to students’ communication needs
*Educated to at least Level 2 in Maths and English (or equivalent)
