Course Director in Hospitality
*Annual Salary: £52,500 - £63,000
*Location: London

We are seeking a Course Director in Hospitality to join our Social Sciences department. This pivotal role involves collaboration with other course directors and reports directly to the department head. The ideal candidate will have a robust academic background in higher education, specifically in hospitality, and experience managing diverse teams and educational programs.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Teaching Responsibilities: Deliver approximately 6 hours of teaching per week per term, subject to adjustments based on workload and student numbers.
*Line Management: Manage a team of about 10-12 staff, including 7-8 permanent lecturers and 6-7 hourly paid lecturers. Responsibilities include team management, timetabling, and workload planning.
*Course Operations: Oversee the smooth operation of the hospitality program, manage course roles and timetables, and adapt to program growth and increased student numbers.
*Collaboration and Reporting: Work closely with other course directors across departments such as Business Management and the Foundation/FDA programme, reporting progress and challenges to the department head.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Academic Qualifications: Minimum of a Master’s degree in a relevant field (PhD preferred).
*Professional Certification: PG Cert in Higher Education; Fellowship or Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy is desirable.
*Experience: At least 2-3 years of industry experience in hospitality and 3-5 years in academia, particularly working with widening participation students.
*Skills: Strong leadership, management, and communication skills. Proficiency in data and statistics is advantageous.
*Location: Preference for candidates based in London due to travel requirements to the campus.
