Prosecution Lawyer - Local Authority
*Pay: Up to £55 per hour via Umbrella
*Location: Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council
*Job Type: Hybrid (3 days in office)
We are seeking a Litigation Solicitor to provide expert legal advice, representation, and guidance on various litigation matters across all Council departments. This role requires a professional who can manage a comprehensive caseload from inception to conclusion, ensuring compliance with legal standards and Council policies.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Provide legal representation for the Council in Courts, Tribunals, and Inquiries.
*Serve as a legal adviser at Council meetings, boards, and panels.
*Offer written and verbal legal advice to officers and elected members.
*Stay updated with legal developments and advise on policy implications.
*Conduct training sessions for members and officers on legal matters.
*Ensure adherence to Solicitors Regulatory Authority standards, GDPR, IT legislation, and equality and diversity requirements.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Extensive experience in civil and criminal litigation, education law, employment law, and licensing.
*Strong advocacy skills in Magistrates Court, County Court, and Employment Tribunals.
*Proficient in using legal IT systems.
*In-depth understanding of Local Government processes and the political context.
*Proven track record of advising senior officers and elected members.
*Capability to develop systems and deliver training.
*Must be a Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive Advocate with a valid practicing certificate.
*Level 7 qualification (e.g., Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma).
