Job Description:
Site Maintenance & Safety Officer
Location: Buckinghamshire
Job Type: Permanent, Full-time
Hours: 37 per week, including early, late, day, and weekend shifts
Annual Leave: 30 days plus statutory Bank Holidays (pro rata for fractional posts)
Join our team at the Aylesbury Campus as a Site Maintenance & Safety Officer, where you will be essential in ensuring the safe operation and upkeep of all sites. This role involves maintenance, repairs, setups for events, and maintaining a student-focused and friendly environment. Your contributions are crucial in ensuring the safety and well-being of students, staff, and visitors.
Day-to-Day of the Role:
Undertake general maintenance and DIY duties as per the College Maintenance plan, including painting, plumbing, changing light bulbs, and more.
Provide first-class customer service, being honest, trustworthy, and dependable.
Welcome and verify the identity of students, staff, and visitors, ensuring strict entry criteria at reception and other entrance points.
Prepare and tidy rooms daily, ensuring they are secure at the end of the day.
Carry out daily tasks using the Estates Service Request System, ensuring clear communication and timely completion of tasks.
Conduct internal/external patrols of the building and car park, checking the fabric and fittings, and resolving any issues.
Perform weekly compliance checks, including fire tests, and record all findings.
Assist with mail and deliveries, adhering to College procedures.
Participate in a rota covering College opening times, including emergency call-outs and activities outside standard hours.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Maths and English qualification to at least GCSE Grade 4/C or Functional Skills Level 2.
Qualification in Painting and Decorating, Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry, or other Built Environment or Construction fields, or willingness to work towards these.
SIA Licence for security work or willingness to obtain one.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience in a similar maintenance or facilities role is preferred.
