Deputy Manager - EBD Children’s Home

We are seeking a dedicated Deputy Manager to support the effective day-to-day operations of our Ofsted-regulated children’s home for children with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD). This role is pivotal in ensuring high standards of care, safeguarding, and compliance with Ofsted regulations. The Deputy Manager will provide leadership, guidance, and supervision to staff, promoting a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the home operates in line with Ofsted regulations, Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, and Quality Standards.
*Safeguarding: Promote and maintain a culture of safeguarding, ensuring children’s welfare is paramount.
*Leadership: Support the Registered Manager in leading, motivating, and supervising staff to deliver consistent, high-quality care.
*Care Planning: Oversee the development, implementation, and review of individual care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour management strategies.
*Staff Development: Provide training, mentoring, and performance management to staff, ensuring professional growth and adherence to policies.
*Operational Management: Assist with rota planning, budgeting, audits, and administrative tasks to ensure smooth running of the home.
*Quality Assurance: Monitor standards of care, prepare reports, and contribute to Ofsted inspections and internal audits.
*Partnership Working: Liaise with social workers, families, schools, and external agencies to support positive outcomes for children.
*Crisis Management: Lead staff in managing challenging behaviour safely and therapeutically, in line with approved behaviour support strategies.
*Promoting Independence: Encourage children to develop life skills, resilience, and positive relationships.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Qualifications: Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) required; Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management desirable.
*Experience: Minimum 2 years working in a children’s residential setting, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
*Knowledge: Strong understanding of Ofsted regulations, safeguarding procedures, and therapeutic approaches to EBD.
*Skills: Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills; ability to manage challenging situations calmly and effectively.
