Instrumental Tutor

We are seeking dedicated Instrumental Tutors to join our Culture, Sport and Tourism Service. This role is crucial in ensuring that all pupils within the Rotherham community have access to a life enriched by music. The successful candidate will work to provide high-quality musical education and opportunities for children and young people to engage with and shape music within the local authority.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Provide instrumental/vocal tuition on the post holder’s main instrument and other related instruments to individuals, small groups, and classes.
*Liaise with schools and pupils to provide the most efficient and effective timetable of tuition.
*Prepare students for internal and external examinations as part of the tuition provided.
*Submit regular assessments to track the progress of pupils and provide written reports to schools and parents annually or as required.
*Manage the stock of loan instruments used by pupils and undertake routine maintenance.
*Direct/manage or assist with school or centre-based ensembles and organise performance opportunities and masterclasses.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Extensive knowledge of and performance experience on a principal instrument and related instruments.
*Experience in lesson planning, register keeping, assessment, and reporting.
*Knowledge of Child Protection issues and safeguarding in schools.
*Understanding of Children and Families Act 2014 and SEN Code of Practice 2015.
*Grade 8 or above on principal instrument.
*Degree/teaching qualification is desirable.
*Enhanced DBS required.
