Job Description:
A public sector organisation based in Leeds is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to lead the development and delivery of strategic and complex commercial projects. This is a key leadership role within our Corporate and Commercial Services Management Team, responsible for driving best practice, ensuring compliance, and delivering value for money across a diverse portfolio.
As Commercial Manager, you will provide expert advice on a wide range of commercial issues, manage stakeholder engagement, and lead on category strategy development. You will also play a proactive role in shaping systems and processes that support our vision and objectives.
The role is based in Leeds with hybrid working available (2 days per week in the office, 3 days working from home) with a salary of £49,359 plus excellent benefits.
Key Responsibilities
*Lead and deliver strategic procurement and contract management projects, ensuring compliance and best practice.
*Provide commercial expertise and leadership across category areas.
*Manage stakeholder relationships, understanding needs and delivering solutions that add value.
*Develop and implement category management strategies.
*Draft and review contractual documentation, advising on terms and risk mitigation.
*Drive benefit realisation through effective project delivery and risk management.
*Represent the organisation at internal and external meetings, building strong partnerships.
*Lead, motivate, and develop a team, fostering a culture of accountability and high performance.
About You
We’re looking for someone with:
*A degree or equivalent experience, plus a relevant professional qualification (e.g., MCIPS or IACCM).
*Proven experience in delivering strategic commercial outcomes, including procurement and contract management.
*Strong knowledge of UK and EU procurement regulations and contract law.
*Excellent leadership skills with experience managing teams and developing talent.
*Ability to influence, negotiate, and communicate effectively at all levels.
*Experience of managing budgets and ensuring value for money.
