Market & Bus Station Attendant

We are seeking an enthusiastic Market & Bus Station Attendant to join our Growth & Development team. This role is crucial in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and security of the Blackburn Market and Bus Station. Day-to-day of the role:
*Perform cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, and cleaning surfaces, windows, public and trader toilets.
*Operate mechanical cleaning equipment such as scrubbing/sweeping machines, high-pressure washers, and steam cleaners.
*Manage waste collection, operate waste compaction equipment, and separate materials for recycling.
*Carry out basic labouring duties and operate necessary electrical/mechanical equipment for maintenance and servicing of the facilities.
*Provide security watch as required and assist designated security staff.
*Act as a key holder responsible for opening and locking up the Market and Bus Station.
*Serve as the first point of contact for customer and trader queries, assisting wherever possible.
*Maintain cleanliness in the Food Court during busy times, including clearing and wiping tables and managing floor cleanliness.
*Follow specific cleaning rotas and ensure duties are completed and signed off.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Experience operating cleaning machinery and performing building cleaning tasks.
*Familiarity with working in a public environment.
*Knowledge of Health & Safety practices and procedures (Essential).
*Understanding of COSHH and PPE regulations (Essential).
*Health & Safety certificates.
*Basic security procedures knowledge.
*Strong customer care skills (Essential).
*Ability to work at heights (Essential).
*Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to follow verbal and written instructions (Essential).
*Ability to work independently and as part of a team (Essential).
*Availability to work Monday to Sunday and occasional additional hours (Essential).
*Flexible approach to working hours, especially for short notice cover if necessary (Essential).
