Job Description:
Billing Assistant – 12-Month FTC
Totum is working with a leading law firm to recruit three highly experienced Billing Assistants on a 12-month fixed-term contract. These roles support a high-volume billing team of 24 during a period of peak demand, allowing the existing team to focus on a query resolution project.
What you’ll do:
*Take ownership of high-volume billing across multiple service lines and clients, ensuring timely and accurate submission within SLAs.
*Maintain and update matter data for correct billing and compliance.
*Prepare detailed Excel bordereaux, bill schedules, and supporting documentation.
*Liaise with Partners and Lawyers to resolve billing queries professionally and efficiently.
*Review and update billing guides to prevent errors, ensuring compliance with VAT rules and templates.
*Support colleagues and contribute to team success by sharing best practices.
*Provide guidance and training to junior team members as required.
Who you are:
*Highly experienced legal Biller with a track record in high-volume, fast-paced environments.
*Strong attention to detail and commitment to "right first time" billing.
*Professional, self-motivated, and able to perform under pressure.
*Confident in liaising with senior stakeholders.
*Experienced with Elite 3E, Paperless, and Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP).
Desirable:
*Ebilling experience.
*Draft billing within 3E.
*Experience providing training to junior team members.
