Job Description:
Butler Rose are proud to be working exclusively with a well-established, international manufacturing business on the appointment of an experienced Financial Controller.
This role suits a qualified accountant who thrives in a fast-paced operational environment and enjoys leading, mentoring, and developing a small finance team while partnering closely with the wider business.
The successful candidate will be a hands-on, commercially minded leader who is highly organised and driven to continuously improve financial performance, controls, and processes.
Key Responsibilities * Monitor and manage plant financial performance in line with Group policies, US GAAP, and local statutory requirements
* Own and drive a robust internal controls framework, ensuring full compliance with internal policies
* Lead, mentor, and develop a finance team of three, fostering a high-performance culture
* Act as a trusted finance partner to operational and departmental leaders
Financial Control & Performance * Prepare, analyse, and deliver budgets and rolling forecasts accurately and on time
* Monitor manufacturing costs and perform variance analysis against standard costs
* Support departments with cost analysis and performance insights
* Identify financial risks, escalating where required and implementing corrective actions
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to achieve world-class finance performance
Internal Controls & Compliance * Take ownership for the accuracy and integrity of financial statements
* Maintain and enhance internal controls and procedures
* Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements
Required Qualifications * Qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
Required Experience * Minimum of 5 years’ experience in accounting or finance, ideally within manufacturing
* Proven experience managing and mentoring a finance team
* Exposure to continuous improvement methodologies
Skills & Competencies * Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing accounting, cost control, and variance analysis
* Highly organised with excellent time-management skills
* Advanced Excel skills and experience with finance/ERP systems (e.g. OneStream; SAP desirable)
* Confident communicator with strong interpersonal and leadership skills
* Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable challenging existing ways of working
