Job Title: Picker / Stores Operative
Location: Headcorn / Ashford
Contract: Temporary to Permanent
Pay Rate: £12.45 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:30am – 5:00pm
About the Role
We’re seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Picker / Stores Operative to support the smooth running of warehouse and production operations. You’ll play a key role in ingredient picking, stock rotation, intake checks, and ensuring finished goods are dispatched accurately and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
*Pick and batch ingredients in line with the daily production plan.
*Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation across Dry Stores, Chill Stores, Prep Areas, and Cold Stores.
*Carry out daily forklift checks and ensure the vehicle is kept in safe working condition.
*Manage and monitor materials with cross-contamination risks (e.g., organic and allergenic ingredients).
*Select correct batches for recipes, ensuring full traceability throughout the production process.
*Complete vehicle collection checks and associated paperwork when required.
*Receive and document incoming raw materials following the Raw Material Intake Procedure.
*Conduct intake inspections on raw materials and packaging prior to release into production.
*Ensure proper stock rotation (FIFO) across all materials.
*Isolate and store non-conforming materials in the designated quarantine area as directed by the Technical Team.
*Prepare and despatch finished products accurately and efficiently.
*Maintain high standards of housekeeping, including external yard areas.
*Manage allergenic materials with strict adherence to storage, segregation, and spill control procedures.
What We’re Looking For
*Previous experience in picking or stores work is essential.
*Comfortable with manual handling and heavy lifting.
*Strong attention to detail, with a proactive and reliable approach to work.
