Job Description:
School Site Manager
Venn Group is working with a leading independent school to recruit a Site Manager to ensure the smooth running, safety, and compliance of multiple school sites.
Location: Wandsworth, London
Salary: £38,000–£40,000 per year
Hours: 47.5 hours per week (term time), 40 hours per week (school closure periods)
Leave: 25 days plus 8 bank holidays
Role Overview
The Site Manager plays a key operational role in maintaining buildings and grounds, managing a small team, and coordinating contractors. This is a hands-on position requiring strong leadership and practical maintenance skills.
Key Responsibilities
*Supervise and direct site supervisors and contractors
*Oversee day-to-day maintenance and emergency repairs
*Undertake plumbing, carpentry, and painting tasks where feasible
*Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations (fire safety, asbestos, legionella, COSHH)
*Conduct regular inspections and update risk assessments
*Manage budgets and procurement for planned works
*Maintain site security and support school events
Essential Requirements
*Experience in maintenance/facilities (carpentry, plumbing, painting)
*Full UK driving licence
*Strong leadership and organisational skills
*Knowledge of health and safety standards
*IT literacy and good communication skills
*Experience in a school environment
Desirable
*IOSH/NEBOSH qualification
Personal Attributes
*Within 30 minutes commute of Wandsworth
*Practical, proactive, and team-oriented
*Flexible and able to work in a child-safe manner
Safeguarding: This role involves regulated activity with children and requires an enhanced DBS check.
