Complex Needs Teaching Assistant
Location: Barnsley
Start Date: ASAP
Pay: Market-leading rates
A highly supportive and specialist school in Barnsley is seeking a Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to work with pupils who have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), communication difficulties (including non-verbal pupils), sensory needs, and complex learning profiles.
The role involves delivering structured support, using communication aids (such as PECs or visual timetables), and providing personal care where required. You will be part of a dedicated team committed to ensuring every young person is able to access learning in a safe, nurturing environment.
Requirements
*Experience supporting pupils with complex needs, ASD or non-verbal communication
*Confident with personal care tasks (feeding, changing, hygiene routines)
*Ability to use de-escalation strategies and remain calm under pressure
*Familiarity with specialist communication tools is an advantage
*Available to start ASAP
