Multi-Skilled Engineer (M&E)

Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Multi-Skilled Engineer with strong Mechanical and/or Electrical (M&E) experience to support the delivery of both planned and reactive maintenance across a modern healthcare facility.
This role involves ensuring the safe and efficient operation of building services, acting as an on-site technical expert, and supporting specialist contractors when required. You will represent the Estates & Facilities team and contribute to maintaining a high-quality environment for patients, visitors, and staff.


Key Responsibilities
*Deliver planned, reactive, corrective, and minor project maintenance tasks across the estate
*Provide technical support within your core discipline(s), including Competent Person/Authorised Person duties
*Liaise with subcontractors, obtain quotes, and assist with coordinating specialist works
*Identify materials and liaise with suppliers to support timely repairs
*Ensure all jobs are completed within agreed service levels, updating records through the CAFM/mobile device in real time
*Carry out fault-finding and repairs on:
*Electrical systems
*Mechanical systems
*HVAC
*Plumbing and general fabric issues
*Maintain plant rooms, workshops, stores, and engineering areas to excellent housekeeping standards
*Escort contractors as needed to support specialist tasks
*Communicate promptly regarding any issues with potential operational or business impact
*Support handovers between shifts, noting ongoing or critical issues
*Participate in overtime cover where required
*Adhere to Safe Systems of Work, risk assessments, and method statements
*Act as an ambassador for the Estates team, demonstrating professionalism, customer service and clear communication


Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Essential
*Completed apprenticeship in a relevant discipline
*City & Guilds Level 3 (Electrical or Mechanical)
*Strong experience in Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing, and HVAC systems
*Competent in using CAFM systems and Microsoft Office
*Ability to work under pressure and prioritise effectively
*Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills
*Ability to lift and handle equipment up to 20kg (with assistance for higher loads)
*CSCS or equivalent trade card

*City & Guilds 2391
*Healthcare or HTM experience
*HTM CP/AP qualifications
