Finance Manager
Location: East Hertfordshire/Essex Border
Salary: £60-65,000
You will be a Finance Manager with a strong background in financial accounting. This role will take ownership of statutory reporting, balance sheet integrity and compliance, while supporting the wider business with robust, accurate financial information.
This position suits a qualified accountant who enjoys being hands-on, values strong controls and is comfortable operating in a well-governed environment.
The Role
As Finance Manager, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity and compliance of the company’s financial records, with particular focus on financial control, VAT and reconciliations.
Your role:
*Ownership of monthly, quarterly and year-end financial reporting
*Preparation and review of statutory accounts
*Full responsibility for balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring all accounts are reviewed, supported and cleared on a timely basis
*Review and approval of month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments and fixed assets
*Preparation, review and submission of VAT returns
*Managing VAT reconciliations and supporting VAT queries, audits or inspections
*Ensuring compliance with accounting standards, company policies and statutory requirements
*Oversight of cashflow reporting and support for treasury and banking activities
*Maintaining and strengthening financial controls, processes and documentation
About You
*ACCA, ACA or CIMA qualification
*Proven experience in a Finance Manager, Financial Accounting Manager or similar role
*Strong background in statutory reporting, audit, VAT and balance sheet control
*Excellent attention to detail and a structured, methodical approach
*Experience improving reconciliations, controls and month-end processes
*Clear communication skills and confidence engaging with senior stakeholders
*Experience within an SME or growing organisation would be beneficial
