We’re recruiting for a Senior Underwriter / Credit Manager to join a growing specialist lender. This is a hands-on leadership role, combining end-to-end underwriting with team management, credit governance, and stakeholder engagement.
The Role
You’ll manage a team of underwriters and originators while maintaining your own pipeline of new lending applications. Responsibilities include underwriting cases from inception to completion, ongoing risk assessment, and presenting credit papers to Credit Committee.
Key duties include:
*Managing underwriting and origination workflows and reporting to the Risk Manager / CRO
*Underwriting new applications end-to-end in line with lending policy (c.15-case pipeline)
*Preparing, presenting, and mandating credit papers to Credit Committee
*Continuous risk oversight across individual cases and the wider team
*Liaising with brokers, solicitors, valuers, finance, and treasury teams to ensure timely funding.
*Driving efficiencies in underwriting policy, process, and service quality
*Monitoring KPIs, deadlines, and workflow priorities
About You
*Minimum 5 years’ specialist finance underwriting experience
*Lending mandate of £500k+
*CeMAP qualified preferred
*Strong technical underwriting and credit risk capability
*Sound understanding of mortgage regulatory requirements.
*Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
