About the Management Accountant Role
A high-growth professional services business based in the Southampton area are seeking to recruit a Management Accountant for a 9-12 month maternity cover contract. The company are able to support hybrid working with 3 days per week in the office expected.This is a key role within a forward-thinking finance team that is embracing technology and investing in smarter ways of working.
You will play a central role in improving and automating management reporting, developing scalable Power BI dashboards, and streamlining data flows using Power Query and advanced Excel techniques. Alongside this transformation focus, you will deliver high-quality management accounts and insightful analysis to support decision-making across the business.
Key Responsibilities of the Management Accountant*Produce accurate and timely monthly management accounts
*Design, build, and maintain automated reporting solutions using Power BI and Power Query
*Improve and streamline existing Excel-based models and reporting processes
*Identify opportunities to automate manual finance processes and reduce inefficiencies
*Develop dashboards and visual reports for senior stakeholders
*Partner with operational teams to provide meaningful financial insight
*Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
*Help shape best practice in data management, reporting standards, and documentation
About You*Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
*Advanced Excel skills essential
*Power BI experience highly desirable
*Strong understanding of management accounting principles
*Curious, proactive, and solutions-focused mindset
*Comfortable challenging existing processes and suggesting improvements
*Excellent communication skills and ability to explain data clearly
*Enjoys working in an evolving, technology-driven environment
