Deputy Transport Manager
About the Role
We are recruiting a Deputy Transport Manager to support the day-to-day running of a busy transport operation. This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced transport professional who can step in for the Transport Manager when required and ensure operations continue safely, legally, and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
*Support the Transport Manager with daily transport operations
*Schedule drivers and monitor drivers’ hours and compliance
*Act as point of contact for drivers, providing guidance and support
*Ensure all vehicles are maintained, inspected, and roadworthy
*Plan routes and allocate resources efficiently
*Monitor deliveries and resolve operational issues
*Ensure compliance with transport legislation, WTD, and Health & Safety
*Assist with audits, reporting, and KPI monitoring
*Handle customer queries and complaints professionally
Essential Requirements
*Previous experience in transport or logistics, ideally in a supervisory role
*Strong knowledge of transport compliance and regulations
*Class 2 (Category C) Driving Licence – essential
*Valid Driver CPC Card and Digital Tachograph Card
*Good organisational and problem-solving skills
*Confident using IT systems, including Excel and transport software
*Strong communication and leadership skills
Desirable
*Working toward Transport Manager CPC
*Experience with budgeting, planning, or team leadership
