Hours: Full-time, 36 hours per week
Location: FE Sector
Requirements: Mental health experience | PGCE | Teaching experience
Teaching qualification essential
We’re seeking a dedicated SpLD Tutor with strong experience supporting learners with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH). This role involves delivering high-quality 1:1 and small-group interventions, creating and reviewing EHCPs, and providing tailored teaching sessions that meet the individual needs of learners.
Key Responsibilities
*Deliver high-quality 1:1 and small-group teaching sessions tailored to learners with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
*Create, review, and update Education, Health & Care Plans (EHCPs), ensuring outcomes are accurately recorded, monitored, and met.
*Develop personalised learning plans that support academic progress, emotional wellbeing, and independent study skills.
*Use a trauma-informed and psychologically informed approach to support learners experiencing mental health challenges.
*Work in partnership with pastoral teams, safeguarding leads, counsellors, and external agencies to ensure a coordinated support pathway.
*Maintain accurate, confidential, and compliant documentation in line with safeguarding, funding, and statutory requirements.
Required Skills & Qualifications
*PGCE (or equivalent teaching qualification)
*Experience supporting learners with mental health or SEMH needs
*Ability to create, review, and deliver content linked to EHCP outcomes
*Confident delivering 1:1 sessions or small-group SEMH support
* A recognised SEMH or mental health qualification (or equivalent experience)
