An established specialist provision supporting children and young people with autism is looking for a committed full-time Teaching Assistant to join their team after February half term. This is a fantastic opportunity to support learners in an all-through school, helping them develop socially, and emotionally in a nurturing environment.
About the RoleYou will be working as part of a dedicated team that supports pupils with a range of communication, sensory and social needs. While there is a greater need in primary classes at the moment, staff must be willing and confident to work across all age groups within the school.
Hours: 8:45am – 3:30pm each day, including a 30-minute break. All staff are required to support with lunchtime duties.
Key Responsibilities*Provide in-class support to pupils with autism and associated needs
*Assist teachers with lesson delivery, planning and classroom organisation
*Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation
*Help create a safe, structured and engaging learning environment
*Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and support staff
*Support pupils across the full age range when required
Requirements*Enhanced Child & Adult DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
*Experience working with children, young people, or adults with additional needs (desirable but not essential)
*A compassionate, patient and resilient approach
*Willingness to adapt and work across different classrooms and age groups
