Head of Science - Colchester
Are you an enthusiastic physics, chemistry & Biology Teacher ready to take the next step?
Are you already a Head of Department seeking a new adventure?
A respected and progressive secondary school in Colchester is seeking to appoint an exceptional Head of Physics to lead and further develop a successful Science faculty starting in April Term.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated Physics specialist with leadership experience - or an ambitious second-in-department ready for progression - to shape the strategic direction of Physics and inspire a love of science across the school.
The Role:
*Provide clear leadership and vision for the Physics curriculum across KS3-KS5
*Ensure consistently high-quality teaching and learning within the department
*Drive outstanding student progress and examination outcomes
*Lead curriculum planning, assessment development, and intervention strategies
*Support and mentor staff to enhance professional practice
*Promote enrichment opportunities such as STEM clubs and competitions
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
*Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
*A degree in Physics or a closely related discipline
*Experience teaching Physics at KS3 & KS4
*Strong subject knowledge and a commitment to academic excellence
*Leadership experience or demonstrable readiness to lead a department
*The ability to analyse performance data and implement improvement strategies
*Excellent classroom management and communication skills
