Locum Social Worker / Senior Practitioner - Competitive Rates & Supportive Team
Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 - 17:00
Pay: Up to £33.30 per hour (umbrella)
Location: Stoke On Trent

Stoke on Trent Council is currently seeking experienced Social Workers / Senior Practitioners to join their Children’s Services teams.

Your Role As a Social Worker / Senior Practitioner, you will:
*Complete statutory Child & Family Assessments
*Manage a caseload of Children in Need, Child Protection, and Looked After Children
*Develop, implement, and review care and support plans
*Lead and contribute to multi-agency and safeguarding meetings
*Assess risk and ensure timely, effective interventions
*Support and mentor colleagues (Senior Practitioner level)
*Prepare reports and undertake court work when required
*Work closely with children, adolescents, families, and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes
What We’re Looking For *Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England
*Experience working within Children’s Services
*Strong safeguarding, assessment, and decision-making skills
*Ability to manage complex cases confidently
*Senior Practitioner applicants should have experience supporting or guiding colleagues
*A flexible, child-focused approach to practice
