Job Description:
Are you an organised and proactive buyer with strong experience in transactional purchasing? Our client, a leading heavy manufacturing business, is looking for a buyer to join their fast-paced procurement team. This is a key operational role with a strong focus on managing purchase orders, maintaining supplier relationships, and ensuring materials arrive on time to support production.
The Role
As buyer, you will play a central role in ensuring the smooth flow of materials into the business. You’ll manage day-to-day purchasing activity, process and expedite POs, and support efficient production by keeping the supply chain moving.
Key Responsibilities
*Raise, process and manage high volumes of purchase orders
*Monitor and expedite open POs to ensure timely delivery
*Maintain accurate procurement data and supplier records
*Work closely with production, engineering and planning teams to understand material requirements
*Resolve day-to-day supply issues, delivery delays and order discrepancies
*Support supplier performance monitoring and contribute to continuous improvement.
*Ensure compliance with procurement processes and internal controls
About You
*Experience in a Buyer, Purchasing Assistant or Procurement Administrator role
*Strong background in transactional purchasing and PO management
*Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing or engineering environment
*Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
*Confident communicator, able to work closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers
*Proficient in ERP/MRP systems and Excel
