FINANCE ADMINISTRATOR (Client Accountant) — RESIDENTIAL LETTINGS
Location: Fully remote, UK based
Salary: £30,000 - £33,000 per annum
Type: Full time Monday - Friday
The opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Finance Administrator (Client Accountant) to join a growing residential lettings business in a fully remote capacity.
Please note: We can only accept applications from candidates with a minimum of 3 years client accounting experience in a Lettings company.
This role will suit someone with solid property finance or lettings accounts experience who enjoys working with high transaction volumes, maintaining accuracy, and supporting both landlords and operational teams.
We are particularly keen to hear from candidates based outside London, ideally in central areas of the UK, who are comfortable working independently within a structured, fast paced environment.
What you’ll do
- Process and allocate incoming rent and service charge payments from tenants and landlords
- Run day to day payment operations including Direct Debits, refunds, agency fees and landlord payout files, ensuring correct approvals are followed
- Reconcile client bank accounts to internal systems and ledgers, investigating and resolving discrepancies promptly
- Manage accounts payable for contractor and supplier invoices, including utilities, ensuring correct coding to property and portfolio
- Maintain accurate financial records at property and landlord level, tracking income, expenditure and arrears
- Support arrears and credit control processes, including payment chasing, landlord updates and assisting with payment plans where required
- Respond to landlord and tenant finance queries relating to balances, statements and payments
- Assist with monthly reporting and support the preparation of statements for landlords and asset managers
- Work closely with Property Managers and Lettings teams on move in funds, deposits, and operational finance queries
- Maintain clear documentation to support audit and compliance requirements
- Contribute to process improvements and help document standard operating procedures to increase efficiency and reduce manual errors
What we’re looking for
- Minimum three years’ experience in a finance, payments or client accounts role within residential lettings or property management
- Experience working in a high volume transactional environment
- Strong Excel skills including filters, pivot tables and lookups, with confidence handling large datasets
- Proven experience carrying out reconciliations and independently investigating payment discrepancies
- Experience using accounting software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks or similar property finance systems
- High attention to detail with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, when dealing with landlords, tenants and internal colleagues
Desirable
- Exposure to systems or process improvements within a finance team
- Experience supporting audits or compliance processes
