Job Description:
Venn Group is delighted to be recruiting for a Finance Business Partner on behalf of a leading university in London. This influential role sits within the Finance function and provides strategic financial guidance to support senior leaders across Faculties and Directorates. The postholder will act as a trusted adviser, ensuring strong financial planning, effective decision-making and alignment with institutional priorities.
Key Responsibilities
*Develop and manage strong relationships with budget holders, offering expert financial advice to inform strategic and operational decisions
*Lead on producing accurate expenditure budgets, forecasts and project-related financial planning
*Analyse management reports and financial trends, providing clear commentary to guide responses to risks and changing financial positions
*Monitor performance across key departments, ensuring delivery against operational and project budgets
*Provide financial insight to support institutional planning, ensuring forecasts and assumptions are robust and achievable
*Assess financial implications of new and existing contracts, ensuring compliance with internal policies and ongoing performance monitoring
*Produce ad hoc financial analysis, business cases and NPV assessments to support investment decisions
*Identify opportunities for efficiency gains or income generation and escalate recommendations appropriately
*Contribute to post-investment appraisals and liaise with auditors when needed
*Ensure adherence to financial processes, compliance requirements and organisational policies
Ideal Candidate Profile
*Studying for, or willing to work towards, a recognised accountancy qualification
*Highly organised, analytical and confident managing multiple priorities
*Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively at all levels
*Strong numerical skills with exceptional attention to detail
*Effective communicator with the ability to translate complex information clearly
*Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
*Strong IT capability, including accounting systems, databases, spreadsheets and MS Office
