Bookkeeping Manager - Taunton
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Clark Wood are looking for an experienced Bookkeeping Manager to join a growing team of chartered accountants in Taunton. This is a hands-on role overseeing day-to-day bookkeeping across a varied portfolio of clients, while supporting and supervising a small bookkeeping team to ensure work is delivered accurately and on time.

You will play a key role in maintaining high standards, assisting with month-end and year-end processes, and ensuring all financial records are compliant with HMRC requirements.

Key Responsibilities *Oversee day-to-day bookkeeping for a diverse client portfolio
*Review and manage work produced by a small bookkeeping team
*Use Xero and QuickBooks to maintain accurate financial records
*Prepare and submit VAT and CIS returns
*Assist with month-end and year-end procedures
*Liaise with managers and clients as required
*Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations and internal deadlines
What We’re Looking For *Minimum of 2 years’ bookkeeping experience, ideally within an accountancy practice or multi-client environment
*Strong working knowledge of Xero (essential)
*Experience with QuickBooks (advantageous)
*Proven experience preparing VAT and CIS returns
*Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
*Confident working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities
*Comfortable supporting or leading a small team
*Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Qualifications & Skills *AAT Level 3 (or higher), or equivalent experience (desirable but not essential)
*Good Excel skills
*A professional, accurate, and methodical approach
