SEN Teaching Assistant / SEN Teacher Location: Barnet, London Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Role Overview We are seeking a passionate and committed SEN Teaching Assistant / SEN Teacher to join our inclusive primary school in Barnet. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting children with a range of special educational needs (SEN), ensuring they have access to high-quality learning opportunities and achieve their full potential.
Key ResponsibilitiesFor SEN Teacher * Plan and deliver differentiated lessons tailored to pupils with SEN.
* Work closely with the SENCO to implement Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
* Assess pupil progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
* Collaborate with parents, carers, and external professionals to support holistic development.
* Create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating classroom environment.
* Contribute to whole-school initiatives and professional development.
For SEN Teaching Assistant * Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN.
* Assist the class teacher in delivering inclusive lessons.
* Implement intervention programmes and support learning plans.
* Help manage behaviour and encourage positive social interactions.
* Support with personal care needs where required.
* Monitor pupil progress and feedback to teachers and SENCO.
Candidate RequirementsSEN Teacher * Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
* Experience teaching pupils with SEN in a primary setting.
* Strong knowledge of the national curriculum and differentiation strategies.
* Excellent communication and organisational skills.
* Empathy, patience, and resilience.
SEN Teaching Assistant * Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent experience).
* Previous experience supporting children with SEN.
* Good literacy and numeracy skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and support staff.
* Enthusiasm for helping children achieve their potential.
Salary Expectations * SEN Teaching Assistant (TA): £22,349 - £28,161 per year (depending on experience and pay scale).
* SEN Teacher: £30,000 - £45,000 per year (depending on experience and qualifications).
