Job Description:
Faculty Health, Safety & Department Safety Officer Lead - Interim - Hybrid working - £31.34 Per Hour Umbrella Cedar Recruitment are seeking an experienced Health and Safety professional to lead on compliance and governance within a leading Educational Institute in London. The role is working a 5 Month Contractuntil the end of July, and will involve working on a hybrid basis, going into the office 2 days per week.
The successful candidate will be reporting into the Estates and Safety Operations Manager and will be required to take full ownership of Health and Safety delivery across six academic departments, act as the Departmental Safety Officer and ensure the faculty maintains a strong position against statutory requirements.
Key Responsibilities *Lead Health and Safety governance and advise Heads of Departments
*Manage faculty compliance, risk registers and documentation
*Oversee incident and near-miss reporting, investigations, and performance reporting
*Coordinate mandatory training (Fire Safety, DSE, Manual Handling, Lone Working, First Aid)
*Lead statutory risk assessments and workplace inspections
*Maintain emergency procedures and evacuation processes
*Work closely and build relationships with with Estates, Fire and Security teams and Safety Services to ensure safe facilities management
*Procure health and safety equipment where required
Requirements
*The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation
*The confidence to influence and challenge senior stakeholders
*NEBOSH/IOSH or equivalent Health and Safety qualification (desirable)
*Be familiar with RiskNET, Mycampus or similar systems
*Experience of working within Higher Education or the NHS
