Job Description:
Part-Time SEND Teaching Assistant - Primary School (Preston)Location: Preston, Lancashire
Hours: Part-time
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Ongoing, with potential for long-term placement
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
About the RoleWe are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to support primary-aged pupils with special educational needs in a warm and inclusive school in Preston. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about helping children thrive-both academically and emotionally.
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide tailored support to pupils with additional needs, which may include autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or social and emotional needs.
Key Responsibilities*Provide targeted 1:1 or small-group support for pupils with SEND
*Assist the class teacher in adapting learning materials and activities
*Promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being
*Help create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment
*Support pupils with communication, social skills, and independence
*Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals
Requirements*Experience working with children with SEND (school or care setting)
*Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children
*Strong communication and teamwork skills
*Ability to build positive relationships with pupils
*A valid DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
