PRS Placements Adviser3-Month Contract | Potential Extension
Via AATOM Recruitment | Working on behalf of a Local Authority
AATOM Recruitment are currently seeking a PRS Placements Adviser to support a local authority’s Housing Allocation Service. This is a key role focused on increasing the supply of suitable and affordable private rented accommodation for residents in housing need, in line with the council’s homelessness accommodation strategy and placement policies.
You will play a vital part in delivering the ambitions of the council’s private rented sector (PRS) strategy—improving property standards, increasing supply, and strengthening the voice of tenants.
Key Responsibilities*Achieve agreed targets for delivering suitable and affordable PRS tenancies that meet local demand.
*Proactively develop and deliver schemes to attract new landlords and secure PRS housing options in line with the council’s homelessness placement policies.
*Arrange placements into PRS access schemes that are sustainable, high-quality, and support the long-term wellbeing and resilience of residents.
*Work collaboratively with Housing Options/Solutions colleagues to support the discharge of homelessness duties under the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and Localism Act 2011.
*Provide clear, high-quality advice and assistance to residents and accommodation providers.
*Ensure income-generating schemes deliver maximum value.
*Identify and address the needs of vulnerable children, adults, and individuals with protected characteristics.
*Safeguard council resources by detecting and preventing fraud, ensuring that support is allocated to those with genuine need.
*Maintain accurate records and use ICT systems effectively to support efficient case management.

Essential Skills & Experience*Strong negotiation, influencing skills, and commercial awareness of the private rented sector.
*Good understanding of relevant housing legislation and tenancy management.
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging to different audiences.
*Numeracy skills and basic financial understanding, with the ability to explain decisions clearly.
*Experience working in a busy, customer-facing service—particularly supporting vulnerable residents and handling difficult conversations.
*Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, partners, and external stakeholders.
*Confident using ICT systems and maintaining accurate records.
*Self-motivated, organised, and able to deliver in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable*Experience working with homeless households or disadvantaged groups.
*Strong administrative and organisational skills, particularly in case management.
Technical Knowledge RequiredEssential*Good understanding of Homelessness Legislation, including:
*Housing Act 1996 (Parts VI & VII)
*Homelessness Reduction Act 2017
*Knowledge of wider housing legislation and regulatory frameworks relating to the private rented sector.
*In-depth understanding of Local Housing Allowance and conducting affordability assessments.
Desirable*Experience in welfare benefits advice and supporting households affected by the Benefit Cap.
