Autism Support Teaching Assistant - Primary Setting
Location: Rugby
Contract Type: Full-Time, Term Time Only
Pay: Competitive, based on experience and qualifications
We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant with experience in supporting children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) to join a primary school in Rugby. This role offers the opportunity to work within a caring and inclusive environment where every child is supported to achieve their potential.
Role Overview
As an Autism Support Teaching Assistant, you will provide targeted assistance to primary-aged pupils with additional needs, helping them to engage positively with learning and school life. Working alongside class teachers and the SENCO, you will contribute to delivering personalised support that promotes academic progress and emotional wellbeing.
Your responsibilities will include:
Providing dedicated 1:1 and small group intervention support
Adapting classroom activities to meet individual learning needs
Supporting communication, social skills, and emotional regulation
Implementing strategies outlined in EHCPs and individual support plans
Encouraging independence and positive behaviour
Contributing to pupil progress reviews and team discussions
The Successful Candidate Will:
Have experience working with children with autism in a primary school environment
Demonstrate knowledge of effective ASC strategies, including structured routines and visual aids
Be calm, patient, and resilient
Work effectively as part of a team
Hold a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable)
Understand safeguarding responsibilities and child protection procedures
