Job Description:
We are seeking a passionate and resilient teacher to join a specialist Alternative Intervention Provision (AIP) supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a rewarding KS3 maternity cover role for someone who is committed to making a significant impact in a nurturing, supportive environment.
You will teach English (essential), along with History and Citizenship, to Key Stage 3 students who are currently working below age-related expectations. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, confident in differentiation, and skilled at building strong, positive relationships with young people who benefit from consistent structure and emotional support.
About the Role
Teach KS3 English, History, and Citizenship within an AIP / SEMH provision
Support learners working below expected KS3 levels
Deliver differentiated, engaging, and trauma-informed lessons
Work collaboratively with an experienced team to ensure consistency and progress
Attend handover days in the week prior to start date (preferred)
Who We’re Looking For
QTS or equivalent
Strong KS3 English teaching experience is essential
Experience in SEMH, AIP, PRU or alternative provision is highly beneficial
Teachers from primary backgrounds with strong literacy skills are welcome to apply
Confident managing behaviour using de-escalation, restorative practice, and relationship-based approaches
Flexible, empathetic and committed to supporting vulnerable learners
