Job Description:
The Role
We are seeking a proactive and customer-focused Customer Service Assistant to join a fast-paced, ’customer first’ service team in Birtley. Acting as the first point of contact, you will support both internal and external customers by:
*Handling and processing customer enquiries and orders via phone, email, and webchat
*Providing comprehensive product and service information
*Building strong, positive customer relationships
*Accurately processing orders to meet delivery and export deadlines
*Raising credit notes and supporting customers with purchasing decisions
*Preparing timely quotations, including discounts and special requirements
*Supporting aftersales activity including PODs, invoice queries, warranty claims and damages
*Providing technical support across all product ranges
*Identifying opportunities to improve the customer experience
*Ensuring all enquiries and complaints are logged, actioned, and escalated appropriately
*Complying with data protection regulations
*Maintaining flexibility to ensure service levels remain consistently high
The Person
We are looking for someone who:
*Has strong communication skills and can engage confidently with internal and external customers
*Is a great team player but also able to work independently
*Possesses good telephone and organisational skills
*Is proactive, professional, and self-motivated
*Brings a positive, ’can do’ attitude
*Has good IT skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
*Can think outside the box to resolve issues and work well under pressure
*Demonstrates excellent time management and attention to detail
*Is personable, polite, and committed to delivering exceptional customer service
*Knowledge of CRM systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics) is desirable but not essential
