Job Description:
15 hours per week | £25-£30 per hour (depending on experience)
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate tutor to support a Year 9 student in the DT4 area who needs help re-engaging with education. The student has been out of school since July 2025 and is experiencing significant anxiety about returning to a school environment.
The student has a diagnosis of ASD and suspected ADHD (not yet formally diagnosed). This referral comes directly from the Local Authority for 15 hours per week.
About the Role
The initial focus will be mentoring and relationship-building to help the student feel safe, confident, and ready to learn again. You will:
*Build the student’s self-esteem and confidence
*Provide a child-led, pace-appropriate approach to avoid overwhelm or further avoidance
*Complete a baseline assessment to identify gaps in learning
*Gradually introduce core subject tuition (Maths and English) as the student becomes more comfortable
*Support emotional regulation and reduce anxieties around returning to education
Experience Required
*Minimum 6 months experience in a UK education setting (within the last 5 years)
*Desirable: experience working with ASD, ADHD, and ideally SEMH needs
*Experience supporting students with school-based anxieties is highly advantageous

*Patient, calm, and trauma-informed
*Confident supporting students with additional needs
*Able to plan and adapt sessions based on the student’s emotional readiness
*Skilled at building trust and creating a positive, encouraging learning environmen
