The Role - AWS DevOps Engineer (Consultant)

The AWS DevOps Engineer position is a hands-on, delivery-focused role within agile, cross-functional teams. As an AWS DevOps Engineer, you will design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines, automate infrastructure provisioning, and ensure operational resilience and compliance across cloud platforms.

The AWS DevOps Engineer will collaborate closely with development and operations teams, providing technical leadership on automation, cloud architecture, and deployment best practice. This role suits experienced engineers who enjoy solving complex challenges in secure, high-impact environments.

What You’ll Be Doing as an AWS DevOps Engineer

As an AWS DevOps Engineer, you will: *Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support application delivery
*Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration management using Terraform or Cloudless
*Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and maintain operational stability
*Ensure security and compliance across all environments
*Collaborate with developers and engineers to ensure seamless integration and deployment
*Contribute to best practices for cloud operations, automation, and DevOps standards
Key Responsibilities *Deliver high-quality implementation and documentation for critical cloud infrastructure
*Implement, maintain, and optimise containerised environments (Docker, Kubernetes/Helm)
*Write scripts and automation in Python, Bash, or PowerShell to support deployment and monitoring
*Work within agile teams to deliver cloud solutions on time and to standard
*Advise on technical approach, cloud architecture, and deployment patterns
*Mentor junior DevOps engineers and share knowledge of cloud best practices
Key Requirements

The successful AWS DevOps Engineer will have a mix of technical expertise and delivery experience: *Proven experience as an AWS DevOps Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or similar role
*Active SC clearance held at the point of application
*Strong proficiency with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or DroneCI
*Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, Cloudless)
*Deep knowledge of AWS cloud services, with familiarity in Azure or GCP a plus
*Containerisation and orchestration experience (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm)
*Scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell
*Understanding of networking, security, and system administration
*Strong problem-solving, analytical, and collaboration skills
Experience in consultancy environments is advantageous, though direct client delivery experience in secure environments will also be considered.
