Job Description:
Brent Council is seeking an exceptional Community Grants Programme Manager to lead the delivery of our ambitious grants programme, including the Neighbourhood Community Infrastructure Levy (NCIL) and other key community funding streams. This is a pivotal role shaping funding that empowers residents, supports voluntary and community organisations, and creates meaningful local impact across the borough.
About the Role
In this influential position, you will manage three major grant types, overseeing their full lifecycle from programme design and stakeholder engagement to ongoing monitoring, evaluation, budgeting and forecasting. You’ll ensure each programme remains on target, on budget and aligned to community need, championing innovation and continuous improvement.
You will build strong relationships with colleagues across Community Engagement, Social Infrastructure, Communications and elected Members, offering high-quality advice and supporting partners to deliver funded projects successfully. The role also involves delivering presentations to internal and external stakeholders, representing the Council at meetings, forums and community events.
Please note: this role may require occasional evening and weekend work linked to community engagement and public meetings.
About You
We’re looking for someone with:
*Experience managing Neighbourhood Community Infrastructure Levy (NCIL) grants or similar statutory/strategic community funding programmes.
*Strong programme or project management experience within a large or complex organisation, or within a medium-to-large charity environment delivering grant programmes.
*A track record of delivering multiple projects that improve outcomes for communities.
*Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to operate confidently in a politically sensitive environment.
*Strong organisational, communication and analytical skills, with the ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.
*Confidence and capability in delivering presentations to varied audiences.
*Knowledge of local government, community engagement and the voluntary/community sector.
You will be an influential communicator, a collaborative partner, and a self-motivated problem solver committed to achieving positive outcomes for Brent’s communities.
Could This Be You?
Consider the following:
*Do you have experience managing NCIL or similar community grant programmes?
*Have you overseen multiple grant types and ensured they remain on track, compliant and within budget?
*Are you confident engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, including senior leaders, partners and elected Members?
*Are you experienced delivering presentations to internal and external audiences?
*Do you understand local government, community engagement or the voluntary and community sector?
If you’ve answered yes to most of these, we’d love to hear from you.
