Greater London Authority are seeking a highly motivated Planning Support Officer to join the newly established Oxford Street Development Corporation (OSDC) - one of the highest-profile and ambitious regeneration programmes in the UK. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key part in shaping the future of one of London’s most iconic locations, at the heart of its global retail, cultural and economic landscape.
Working within a fast-paced, design-led Development Management service, you will support the Principal Technical Manager in ensuring the efficient, effective and proactive delivery of OSDC’s planning function.
Pay rate: £24.65 per hour via PAYE or £32 per hour via Umbrella
Contract Duration: 3-month contract (possibility of further extensions and the role even going permanent)
Location: Southwark – Hybrid work / 2-3 days in the office
Key Responsibilities
*Validate a wide range of planning applications, including strategic major schemes, listed building consents, conservation area applications and advertisement consents.
*Log and process planning appeals and enforcement cases.
*Provide high-quality technical and administrative support to the Development Management team.
*Contribute to the smooth operation of a new and evolving planning authority, adapting quickly to changing demands and priorities.
*Assist in the development and delivery of streamlined technical processes as OSDC moves towards go-live in Spring.
About You
The ideal candidate will bring:
*Experience validating a variety of planning applications, ideally within a London or urban context.
*Knowledge of appeals and enforcement processes.
*Strong attention to detail and the ability to work proactively in a busy environment.
*Confidence working within a new organisation where processes are still developing.
*Experience using Arcus (Salesforce) would be highly advantageous.
