Job Description:
Your new company
You’ll be joining a forward-thinking, continuously evolving organisation committed to staying ahead of the competition. As they expand and refine their operations, they are looking for a talented Category Officer to help enhance procurement processes, drive strategic improvements and contribute to a high-performing, agile business. With a strong presence in the components and manufacturing space, this is a company that values innovation, collaboration and commercial excellence.
Your new role
In this role, you will take responsibility for delivering effective category management and procurement support across the business. You will play a key part in identifying commercial opportunities, driving sustainable value, and guiding the business through fact-based recommendations. Your work will include managing supplier performance, supporting risk mitigation, contributing to the NPI process and maintaining strong relationships with internal teams. You will also ensure adherence to procurement standards, manage pricing and data updates, and support other procurement categories when required. Throughout your role, you will champion best practice and help raise the profile of procurement across the organisation.
What you’ll need to succeed
Success in this role will require previous procurement experience within an industrial or manufacturing environment, along with a strong commercial mindset and the ability to negotiate effectively. You will need to be confident working with data, comfortable analysing complex information and able to communicate your insights clearly to stakeholders. A Level 4 CIPS qualification is essential, and component purchasing experience will be highly advantageous. You should be customer-focused, capable of managing tasks independently and able to take ownership of complex work from start to finish. Strong presentation skills, sound commercial judgement and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams will also be key.
What you’ll get in return
In return for your expertise, you will receive a competitive salary of £45,000, supported by a discretionary annual bonus. The organisation offers a generous benefits package alongside flexible hybrid working of 3 days on site and 2 working from home. There is parking on site.
