Job Description:
Technical Manager
*Location: Peterborough Area
*Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
*Salary: C.£50k
Join our medium-sized food manufacturing site as a Technical Manager. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead strategic development plans and play a crucial role in delivering the business strategy for the future. Our site, currently SALSA certified with an aim to reach BRC status certification within the next 3 years, encompasses multiple operations including MSM, bulk freezing, rendering fats and greaves, and food production.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Technical Oversight:
*Lead and manage the quality and production team, ensuring the quality, safety, and integrity of our products.
*Manage and maintain the HACCP, QMS, and internal audit processes, ensuring alignment with industry regulations and codes of practice.
*Create, implement, and lead a technical training system tailored to the scope of site operations.
*Support logistic and operations functions to achieve best practice in the industry.
*Compliance:
*Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards governing food and food production operations.
*Create and maintain strong relationships with local authorities and accreditation bodies.
*Conduct at least an annual review of systems, processes, procedures, and HACCP.
*Generate KPI reports to support due diligence and governance of systems in place.
*Continuous Improvement:
*Identify opportunities and initiatives to start and drive continuous improvement across food and pet food operations.
*Internal Collaboration and Team Management:
*Build strong relationships with cross-functional team members to ensure alignment on regulatory requirements and product compliance.
*Act as the key ’go-to’ contact within the business who can provide efficient and accurate answers to queries on production and distribution compliance.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Bachelor’s degree in food science or a related discipline.
*Minimum of 5 years’ experience within a technical or quality management role.
*Experience and knowledge of regulatory requirements applicable to food, edible fats and oils, MSM, and frozen meat production.
*Effective communicator to colleagues at all levels, with excellent problem-solving abilities.
*Ability to liaise effectively with internal stakeholders and regulatory authorities.
*Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
