Job Description:
Trials Technician
*Location: Kings Lynn
*Job Type: Full-time, 6-Month Contract
*Salary: Competitive
This role involves assisting the Technical Development Manager in generating technical information through the delivery and reporting of field, laboratory, greenhouse, and third-party trials.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Assist in the establishment and management of field, laboratory, and glasshouse trials including planting, fertiliser application, and harvesting of a range of crops.
*Plan and schedule trials activities to meet targets and deadlines.
*Ensure trials and assessments are carried out to meet industry standards and set protocols.
*Assess plants, plots, or laboratory assays for a range of agronomic or physical characteristics using a range of tools.
*Validate, analyse, and submit trials data, checking for errors, processing by prescribed deadlines, and assist in the compilation of final trials reports and presentations for internal and external audiences.
*Maintain a range of equipment and facilities, ensuring all machinery, equipment, and buildings are serviced, maintained, and ready for use when needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Minimum of A-C Grade GCSE’s in Maths, English & Sciences.
*Background understanding in Agriculture & Horticulture.
*Work-based experience in practical crop production/agricultural research is advantageous.
*PA 1, 2 Spray application qualification would be advantageous but not essential.
*Excellent planning and problem-solving skills.
*Ability to work under pressure during busy peak work periods.
*Effective communication skills at all levels within the business and with external customers.
*Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
*Full UK Driving Licence.
