Head of Management Information Systems

An MIS leader is required for our public sector client. The successful candidate will turn data into meaningful insight and drive transformation across a complex organisation.
You will lead the organisation’s Funding, Registry, Business Intelligence and Exams functions — ensuring robust systems, accurate data and high-quality insight underpin decision-making at every level. You’ll be a key strategic partner to senior leaders and the Board of Governors, driving a data-enabled culture that ensures the organisation remains financially sustainable, compliant and performance-driven.
This is far more than a compliance role; it is about shaping how data, systems and processes enable the organisation both now and for the future.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and direction across all MIS functions
Ensure accuracy, integrity and security of all data systems
Lead statutory returns including ILR, HESES and examinations compliance
Develop advanced reporting, dashboards and performance insight
Strengthen data literacy and capability
Ensure systems are integrated, efficient and fit for purpose
Support curriculum planning, timetabling, enrolment and funding assurance
Lead internal and external audits relating to funding and data
Drive a culture of accuracy, compliance and continuous improvement
Experience required:
Strong technical expertise across MIS, funding and regulatory frameworks (FE/HE)
Experience leading specialist teams in a complex organisation
Excellent knowledge of data structures, reporting systems and digital integration
The ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insight
A degree or equivalent experience is essential, along with proven success in managing MIS, Exams or ILR-related functions
