Job Description:
Payroll Manager
*Annual Salary: £53,460 per annum
*Location: Wigan
*Job Type: Full-time
*Hybrid Policy: Minimum 2 days per week in office
Reed Talent Solutions are working with Wigan Council to find a Payroll Manager. This role will play a pivotal role in achieving the Council’s ’Progress with Unity’ vision and strategic priorities. This role focuses on the strategic leadership and management of the Payroll division, ensuring the delivery of accurate, timely, and legally compliant payroll services.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
*Oversee the payroll processing for the Council, ensuring all payroll transactions are processed efficiently and accurately.
*Ensure compliance with statutory reporting and payroll tax requirements.
*Manage and resolve complex payroll issues to ensure smooth payroll operations.
*Lead the digital transformation of payroll services to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
*Develop and implement strategies to improve payroll processes and systems.
*Provide leadership and direction to the payroll team, ensuring high levels of performance and team development.
*Collaborate with HR and finance teams to align payroll management with overall strategic objectives.
*Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll regulations and best practices.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*CIPP Level 4/5 qualification or equivalent level of proven experience relevant to payroll management.
*Extensive experience in managing payroll in a large, complex organisation.
*Strong understanding of payroll software and systems, ideally with experience in digital transformation initiatives.
*Proven ability to lead and manage a team, fostering a positive work environment and encouraging professional growth.
*Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
*Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with various stakeholders.
