The Role
As a Technical Claims Handler, you’ll play a crucial role in delivering an outstanding customer experience. You’ll manage a caseload of latent defect insurance claims, ensuring each case is handled promptly, fairly, and in line with regulatory and internal standards.
You will work closely with underwriters, insurers, brokers, loss adjusters, and internal stakeholders, bringing strong technical insight to every decision.
Key Responsibilities
*Manage a caseload of claims in line with internal procedures and service standards
*Take First Notification of Loss (FNOL) and acknowledge promptly
*Conduct initial investigations and gather relevant evidence
*Liaise with insurers, loss adjusters, and other professionals to support informed referrals
*Accurately assess coverage and ensure fair, consistent claims handling
*Collaborate with internal departments to support a seamless customer journey
*Provide timely updates and reports to management and stakeholders
*Maintain full regulatory compliance, including FCA standards and Consumer Duty principles
Training & Development
You will receive ongoing professional development, including insurance and construction-related training, with support to pursue industry qualifications such as CII or CILA.
What My Client is Looking For
*Minimum 3 years’ experience in claims handling within property insurance or similar (e.g., loss adjusting)
*Progress toward or completion of CII/CILA qualifications
*Understanding of latent defect insurance or property claims
*Experience working within an FCA-regulated environment
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills
*Strong negotiation and influencing ability
*IT proficiency, particularly Microsoft Office (Excel essential)
*High attention to detail and ability to prioritise under pressure
*A customer-first approach with strong commercial awareness
